Alex works as part of the research team developing quantitative models to predict the outcomes of sporting events.
Prior to arriving at Stratagem he worked as a race strategist at a top Formula 1 team, winning two Constructors’ and two Driver’s world championships. During races he advised the drivers and engineers on pit stop timing and tyre choice using an automated software stack that he developed to include many disparate and noisy data sources.
Alex holds a Ph.D. in experimental applied mathematics (entitled “Rapid Granular Flows in an Inclined Chute”), an M.Math. and a first class B.A. from the University of Cambridge.
He enjoys applying mathematics and engineering to any practical situation… when he’s not breaking dirt bikes in faraway lands.
